Started training as a kid, competed as an adult - not chasing a title, just because I love the sport. That experience shapes everything about the way I coach.
I started training at six years old - karate first, then Muay Thai, then Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. As an adult I competed in both Muay Thai and BJJ. Nothing serious, no big career. Just someone who loved the sport enough to get in there and experience it properly. That time on the mat and in the ring gave me something no textbook could - I know what it actually feels like to prepare for competition and perform under pressure.
Training alongside other athletes, I kept seeing the same thing. The physical preparation wasn't matching the demands of the sport. Training was traditional - built on habit, not science. In a sport as unforgiving as combat sports, where the margin for error is tiny and the physical cost is real, that gap matters. Athletes with genuine potential falling short - not because they lacked heart, but because nobody had prepared them properly.
As a junior exercise physiologist I made a decision. If I was going to fix this properly, I needed to see what the best were actually doing. So I started reaching out - American Top Team. Landow Performance. Two of the most respected performance environments in combat sports. I wanted inside those systems, to learn from coaches working with elite fighters, and bring that back to athletes who'd never normally have access to it.
The system I use with recreational athletes and first-time competitors is built on the same principles used at the highest levels of the sport. You shouldn't need a UFC contract to train properly. Whether you're heading into your first amateur fight, managing an injury, or just someone who loves the sport - you deserve the same quality of preparation as anyone else.
